Long Live the Weekend Lyrics

Workin' for a man that you don't understand so forget it
Spendin' all your dough yeah you know as soon as you get it
Wastin' your time on an assembly line you want out of it
Pickin' up your pay at the end of the day and get out of it
And get away'Cause you're wonderin' if it's gonna change
'Cause the weekdays are the same as always, never changingMake a break, another escape
I gotta get out, I gotta get out
Make a break, another escape
I gotta get out, I gotta get out
Long live the weekendMonday, don't want to get out of bed
Tuesday, I'm walking with the dead
Wednesday, never felt so wrong
Thursday, it takes twice as longBut Friday, I know where I'm gonna be
Faraway from the same old everyday, ordinaryMake a break, another escape
I gotta get out, I gotta get out
Make a break, another escape
I gotta get out, I gotta get out
Long live the weekend

Long live the weekendWeek in, week out
Week in, week out
Week in, week out
Week in, week outI don't care if I don't get paid
Can't sit here for one more day
Wasting awayWell now you're wonderin' if it's gonna change
'Cause the weekdays are the same as always, never changingMake a break, another escape
I gotta get out, I gotta get out
Make a break, another escape
I gotta get out, I gotta get out
Long live the weekendLong live the weekend
Long live the weekend
Long live the weekend
Long live the weekend

The Living End formed in 1994 after lead singer/guitarist Chris Cheney and bassist Scott Owen were introduced to each other by their older sisters at Wheelers Hill Secondary College in Melbourne, Australia. Cheney, obsessed with 80s rockabilly group the Stray Cats, convinced Owen to learn the double bass instead of the piano and they started playing gigs under the name Runaway Boys after the title of a Stray Cats song. The group went through a succession of drummers before settling on Joe Piripitzi.
