Lovely Rita Lyrics

Lovely Rita, meter maid
Lovely Rita, meter maidLovely Rita, meter maid
Nothing can come between us
When it get dark I tow your heart awayStanding by a parking meter
When I caught a glimpse of Rita
Filling in a ticket in her little white bookIn a cap she looked much older
And the bag across her shoulder
Made her look a little like a military manLovely Rita, meter maid
May I ask discreetly?
When are you free to have a drink with me?Lovely Rita, meter maid
Lovely Rita, meter maidLovely Rita, meter maid
Nothing can come between us
When it get dark I tow your heart awayTook her out and tried to win her
Had a laugh and over dinner
Told her I would really like to see her againGot the bill and Rita paid it
Took her home and nearly made it
Sitting on the sofa with a sister or twoOh, lovely Rita, meter maid
Where will I be without you?

Give me a wink and make me think of you(Lovely Rita, meter maid)
Didn't have me Rita
(Lovely Rita, meter maid)
I love nobody but you, Rita(Lovely Rita, meter maid)
Ooh, yeah
(Lovely Rita, meter maid)
I say here we go(Lovely Rita, meter maid)
Please, please, Rita?
(Lovely Rita, meter maid)
I need nobody but you, Rita
(Lovely Rita, meter maid)

He was the best-selling African-American singer of the 1950s and early 1960s whose congenial, non threatening personality allowed him to succeed despite a period of deep-seated racial segregation. Domino is also a pianist with an individualistic bluesy style showing stride and boogie-woogie influences.
