Lucky To Be Here Lyrics

I'm not one to whine or cry or wallow in self-pity
I take life in stride and smell the roses when I can
I am one of those lucky guys who's happy just to be here
Doin' what I love thankful that I amWith all of life's temptations and this dream that I've been chasin'
It's a wonder I ain't long since dead and gone
I've cheated undertakers, I've dang near met my maker
I'm tellin' you all, I'm lucky to be here at allMy hard head, the cigarettes and straight Kentucky bourbon
Have taken their toll and done their best to do me in
Guitars and beer joint bars up and down the highway
If I could start all over I'd do it all againWith all of life's temptations and this dream that I've been chasin'
It's a wonder I ain't long since dead and gone
I've cheated undertakers, I've dang near met my maker
I'm tellin' you all, I'm lucky to be here at allAnd when I die I'll thank the Good Lord face to face
For His patience and graceWith all of life's temptations and this dream that I've been chasin'
It's a wonder I ain't long since dead and gone
I've cheated undertakers, I've dang near met my maker
I'm tellin' you all, I'm lucky to be here at all
Lucky to be here at all

Montgomery Gentry is a country music duo, founded in the 1990s, consisting of Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry. Eddie Montgomery is the older brother of John Michael Montgomery. Some sources say that Troy Gentry is the son of Bobbie Gentry, which is untrue. Troy's parents are Lloyd and Pat Gentry. Eddie, Troy, and John were in a band called Early Tymz. Eddie and Troy continued to perform after John left to pursue a solo career. The duo went through several name changes before they decided to call themselves Montgomery Gentry. Eddie Montgomery is bald and seemingly always wears a hat. Eddie also has a habit of twirling his microphone on stage, which has become somewhat of a signature.

The band has released five CDs including "Some People Change" which was released in 2006
