Madame Joy Lyrics

All the men would turn their head
When she walked down the street
Clothes are fine and hair that shine
Smiling, oh so sweet, smiling, oh so sweetGot a taste of all religion
Comes on with the new
In her hair a yellow ribbon
And she's decked out all in blue
Oh yes, in decked out all in blueSteppin' lightly then steppin' brightly
With her books in hand
Going to the university to teach them
Help them understand
And are helping 'em understandAnd all the kids would love to see her
Follow in her steps
And tell her stories and adore her
Climb in through the fence
Climb in through the fenceHere she comes walking
Here she comes talking
I do believe it's Madame JoyWalking past that old street corner

And she's looking for her boy
Oh yes' she is looking for her boySteppin' lightly then steppin' brightly
With her books in hand
Going to the university to teach them
Help them understand
Yeah, yeah. help them understandI was looking at the way she moved me
And I was seeing every side
Tell me that can I learn the language?
Have you got the mind, have you got the mind? Here she comes walking
Here she comes talking
I do believe it's Madame JoyShe's walking by that old street corner
And she's looking for her boy
Oh yeah, looking for her boyYou know all the men would turn their head
When she walked down the street
Clothes refined and hair that shine
And smiling, oh so sweet, oh yes, she's smiling, oh so sweet
Smiling, smiling, oh so sweet, yeah, yeah, yeah
Smiling, smiling, oh so sweetAnd all the men would
And all the men would turn their head around
When that woman walked down the street
When that woman walked down the streetWhen that when that woman walked
When that woman walked when that woman walked
When that woman walked when that woman walked
When that woman walked, what she woreWhen that woman when that woman, when that woman
When that woman when that woman, when that woman
When that woman when that woman, when that woman
When that woman when that woman walkedShe just walked
Just kept on walking down the street, yeah
When she walked when she walked down
When she walked on down

George Ivan Morrison (generally known as Van Morrison) (born 31 August 1945) is a Grammy Award-winning artist from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He's a singer, songwriter, author, poet, and multi-instrumentalist, who has been a professional musician since 1958. He plays a variety of instruments, including the guitar, harmonica, keyboards, drums, and saxophone. Featuring his characteristic growl - a unique mix of folk, blues, Irish, scat, and Celtic influences - Morrison is widely considered one of the most unusual and influential vocalists in the history of rock and roll.

Known as "Van the Man" by his fans, Morrison first rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Northern Irish band Them, writing their 1964 hit "Gloria". A few years later, Morrison left the band for a successful solo career, starting with the album Astral Weeks.

Morrison has pursued an idiosyncratic musical path. Much of his music is tightly structured around the conventions of American soul and R&B, such as the popular singles "Brown Eyed Girl", "Moondance", "Domino", and "Wild Night". An equal part of his catalogue consists of lengthy, loosely connected, spiritually inspired musical journeys that show the influence of Celtic tradition, jazz, and stream-of-consciousness narrative, such as his classic album Astral Weeks and lesser known works such as Veedon Fleece and Common One. The two strains together are sometimes referred to as "Celtic Soul," and Morrison rejects the characterization of his genre of music as Rock, citing Elvis Presley as a non-influence.

He continues to perform regularly, and achieved his highest U.S. chart position (number ten on the Billboard 200) with his latest album, Keep It Simple.
