The time has come… the next evolution of hip-hop!

Born in Thomasville, GA in the early 80’s; Lavardicus Atkins was brought into this world by two young and economically challenged parents, both positioned to raise a child while still being kids themselves. Raised in challenging conditions in South Georgia, (Victim Of Circumstance) aka V.O.C., was forced to grow up fast in an environment where poverty was rampant and opportunities were limited, thus making him wise beyond his years. Due to the harsh economic conditions and enduring socioeconomic obstacles, V.O.C. witnessed a lot of pain, strife, and hardship.
Throughout his brief tenure here in this world, V.O.C. witnessed his closest friends and family face incarceration, struggle with a life of crime, and even death. With all of these negatives compounding around him, V.O.C. took solace and found his refuge in Soul Music of the 70’s and 80’s that saturated the airwaves in his small Georgian home. However, while Soul Music was teasing his senses, rap took over his very being. As Tupac Shakur, N.W.A., Notorious B.I.G., Too Short, Outkast, UGK, Geto Boys, and 8Ball & MJG’s words galvanized an entire generation, a young man found his voice. Their songs told of a hard life, rampant with drug dealing and poverty, all the while V.O.C. bared witness to the materialization of the song lyrics everyday – both directly and indirectly.
However, knowing this was not the way he wanted to live his life, V.O.C. set out on a path he knew would present him with a better life. Armed with his knowledge and propelled with an enormous amount of motivation, V.O.C. used his GOD given basketball ability to make a way out of no way. He parlayed his natural ability into a scholarship at the prestigious Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX where he received his B.A. and M.S.A. However, earning two more diplomas did nothing to quell the “true” inner voice, a voice that was demanding to be heard. Ultimately, this voice kept bubbling and rising beneath the surface until V.O.C., “The Artist”, was released.
With that being said, Dallas proved to be valuable to his growth as a man and a musician. In just 3 years, V.O.C. would open up for Bad Boy Recording artist 8Bball & MJG, 112, and former Cash Money Records headliner Juvenile. V.O.C.’s talent and stage presence is unparallel to any other rap artists in the game making him prime for success in this ever thriving market of hip-hop.
