Maria Lyrics

I'm exhausted
Tryin' to catch my breath the morning after
Pour my coffee
With shakin' hands and my world in disarrayLost in the softness and strength that's in her hands
I see her face and I can barely stand
But oh, the sweet redemption every time she mentions
That she wants me, oh, that she needs me, ohMaria
Your kisses knock me over
Make me drunk and then leave me sober
They let me know that I'm a manMaria
Your touch, it almost kills me
Then it turns around and heals me
I get lost and found again in the arms of a woman
That a mother gave the name, MariaTender power
The gift she gives me gets me through the day
Midnight hour
I reach across the bed where she layThen I look up and see the moon dance on her skin
My heart starts poundin' once again

It's a sweet intoxication, a powerful frustration
How I want her, oh, how I need herMaria
Your kisses knock me over
Make me drunk and then leave me sober
They let me know that I'm a manMaria
Your touch, it almost kills me
Then it turns around and heals me
I get lost and found again in the arms of a woman
That a mother gave the name, MariaMaria
Your kisses knock me over
Make me drunk and then leave me sober
They let me know that I'm a manMaria
Your touch, it almost kills me
Then it turns around and heals me
I get lost and found again in the arms of a woman
In the arms of a woman that a mother
In the arms of a woman that a mother gave the name, MariaI'm exhausted
I'm still tryin' to catch my breath
Maria
Oh, Maria

The album, which was certified gold in the United States, also produced the Top 10 hit Laredo and I Breathe In, I Breathe Out, his first and only Number One hit.

Play It Loud was followed in 2002 by Chris Cagle, released on Capitol Records. Also a gold album in the U.S., it produced the Top 5 hits What A Beautiful Day and Chicks Dig It. Anywhere But Here, his third compilation, followed in 2005 and produced the #12-peaking Miss Me Baby. A fourth studio album, titled My Life's Been A Country Song, was released in 2008, and its lead-off single, What Kinda Gone, peaked at #3 on the country music charts in early 2008.
