Maria, Maria (feat. The Product G&B) Lyrics

Ladies and gents
Turn up your sound systems
To the sound of Carlos Santana
In the GMB ghetto blues
From the refugee campsOh Maria, Maria
She remind me of a West Side story
Growin' up in Spanish Harlem
She livin' a life just like a movie starOh Maria, Maria
She fell in love in East L.A.
To the sounds of the guitar yeah yeah
Played by Carlos SantanaStop the lootin', stop the shootin'
Pick pocking on the corner
See as the rich is getting richer
The poor is getting poorerSe mira Maria on the corner
Thinkin' of ways to make it better
In my mailbox there's an eviction letter
Somebody just said, "See you later"
YeahAhora vengo mama chula mama chula

Ahora vengo mama chula
(East Coast)
Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chulaMaria, Maria
(West Coast)
She remind me of a West Side story
Growin' up in Spanish Harlem
She livin' a life just like a movie starOh Maria, Maria
She fell in love in East L.A.
I said it to the sounds of the guitar yeah yeah
Played by Carlos SantanaI said a la favella, los colores
The streets are getting hotter
There is no water to putout the fire
Mi canto la esperanzaSe mira Maria on the corner
Thinkin' of ways to make it better
Then I looked up in the sky
Hopin' the days of paradiseAhora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chula
(North side)
Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chula
(South side)Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chula
(Worldwide)
Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chula
(Open up your eyes)Maria you know you're my lover
When the wind blows I can feel you
Through the weather and even when we're apart
It still feels like we're togetherMaria, oh yeah
She remind me of a West Side story
Growin' up in Spanish Harlem
She livin' a life just like a movie starOh Maria, Maria
Oh, she fell in love in East L.A.
To the sounds of the guitar
Played by Carlos SantanaPut 'em up y'all
Carlos Santana with the refugee camp
Wyclef, Jerry "Wonder"
Mr. Santana, GMB
Yo, Carlos man, you makin' that guitar cry

Santana is a rock band based around talented guitarist Carlos Santana and founded in the late 1960s. The band first came to public attention after their performing the song "Soul Sacrifice" at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, when their Latin rock provided a contrast to other acts on the bill. This initial exposure made their first, eponymous album a hit at the time, followed in the next two years by successful follow-ups Abraxas and Santana III. Over the years, and despite a constantly changing line-up, Santana has achieved a total of eight Grammy Awards. In 1998, the group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with Carlos Santana, Jose Chepito Areas, David Brown, Mike Carabello, Gregg Rolie and Michael Shrieve being honored.

Santana was formed originally in 1967 in San Francisco, California. Carlos Santana is a Mexican-born American. Originally named The Santana Blues Band, they rose to international fame when they performed at the Woodstock festival in 1969. This led to their second studio album, Abraxas (1970), becoming a Latin-Rock standard and a huge critical and commercial success. Over the years their line-up has changed constantly, allowing them to evolve with the times. Over 50 musicians have been in Santana over its 40 year history, but the only constant has been Carlos Santana himself. Various successful bands have been spawned by Santana, most notably Journey, formed by keyboardist Gregg Rolie and guitarist Neal Schon, both key members of Santana's early days. Following a brief quiet period in the early 1990s, Santana returned to stardom by releasing two successful albums, Shama and Supernatural, featuring various guest vocalists.

Santana's original drummer Michael Shrieve was one of the youngest performers at the Woodstock Music Festival in the year 1969 at only 19 years of age.

Carlos Santana is known to use Paul Reed Smith (PRS) custom guitars, though his choice varies according to co-players. On his last album, The Best of Santana, he played a Stratocaster to match with Eric Clapton's Strato-style.
