Masterpiece Lyrics

Baby, we were just a masterpiece
Up there on the wall for all to see
We were body and soul, we were talked about
Once you've been framed, you can't get outWho's brave enough to take it down?
Who's fool enough to lose the crown?
We're just another thing they'll all forget about
They'll be standin' around laughin'
Like nothin' ever happened
Baby, we were just a rodeo
Shinin' up our buckles for the show
Our knuckles white, we held on tight
'Cause the longest ride makes the crowd go wildWho's gonna open up the gate?
No hope of ridin' to the eight
We ain't the cowboys honey, we're the clowns
They're all standin' around laughin'
Like nothin' ever happenedBaby, we were just a country song
I'm still doin' time, the King is gone
I tried to stand by my man

We were makin' plans, we were makin' plans
Who's brave enough to take us down?
Who's fool enough to lose the crown?
Maybe another thing they'll all forget about
They'll be standin' around laughin'
Like nothin' ever happenedBaby, we were just a masterpiece
Baby, we were just a masterpiece

The Hell On Heels Songfacts states that Pistol Annies is an all-female country supergroup comprising Miranda Lambert and fellow songwriters Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. The trio came into existence after Miranda and Ashley got together for a song writing session and as they shared stories, Ashley decided Miranda needed to meet her friend Angaleena. Following a midnight phone call between the three ladies, the group was born.

Ashley
I’m Ashley Monroe, and they call me “Hippie Annie.” I was born in East Tennessee and have been singing all my life. When I was 13 my dad passed away, and soon after me and mama headed to Nashville where we’ve been ever since. I met Ran when I was 17. We were both on Sony. At first we wrote each other off as “another blonde singer,” but after we heard each other’s music we couldn’t stay away from one another. I started writing with good ol’ “Holler Annie” a couple years ago and had to play her music for Ran. When I did, she flipped out!! We called “Holler” that night and told her we wanted to start a band! And here we are, the best of friends, writing and singing songs together, and I have a feeling this is just the beginning.
Angaleena
I’m Angaleena Presley, and they call me “Holler Annie.” I was raised in the hills of Eastern Kentucky in a little town called Beauty. My dad is a third-generation coal miner, and my mom is a school teacher. I am extremely proud of my mountain heritage. The first thing I ever remember loving was Bo Duke. The second and lasting love of my life is music. When I was fifteen my dad taught me how to play “Mama Tried” on his old guitar, and that lit a fire in me that burns to this day. I moved to Nashville in 2000 and got signed to a publishing deal nine short months later. I have been blessed to work with Nashville’s finest, including Ashley Monroe. We met through our publishers and clicked immediately. Ashley later introduced Miranda Lambert to my music. Miranda asked me to come hang out, and before I knew it we were all in the studio making a record together. Miranda, Ashley, and I have an amazing creative chemistry and unbelievable friendship. I can’t wait to break the rules with my fellow Pistol Annies.
Miranda
I’m Miranda Lambert, and they call me “Lone Star Annie.” I come from the piney woods of East Texas. I am a singer/songwriter, and a lover of outdoors and animals. Though I have a successful solo career, I’m always dreaming and looking for inspiration. These two girls came into my life and they too are dreamers. Together we have created and crafted some of the most amazing songs. All from the eastern part of our home states, we write and sing about real life and our roots. Our music is honest and outspoken just like us. I hope this music takes you on a journey to places you would never have gone. See ya down the road…
