"Yoga has never been so loud!" The Baltic Times

This mantracore wunderkind from Lithuania has appeared in the Czech Republic out of the blue. Alaverdi members say that the band got started in an abandoned steel mill near Vilnius out of the pure desire to spread positive vibrations in the world. However, brothers Edgaras and Vytautas Vasilias and bass player Marius Miskinis spread the goodwill in quite a rough package. There is a message to every Alaverdi song, so the bilingual Lithuanian/English tracks include the "Vegetaros Superžmogus" (about a vegetarian superman), "Recycle or Die!" and the audience will also be able to listen to a simulation of whale singing and chant together the yoga syllable "AUM". Most of these messages are served at a breakneck speed somewhere between punk and hardcore.
This is also where the specific genre of mantracore came from - i.e. the conjunction of short mantra-like lyrics and forte music.

The word Alaverdi itself comes from a remote north-Armenian industrial center of the same name.
"The Alaverdi town is an industrial nightmare; it´s place where you really don´t want to be born in your next life. We adopted the name for our band as a kind of karmic warning that all of us should keep in mind - ´do good in this life, or you´re gonna be born in Alaverdi next time´", says frontman Edgaras.
After some radical ecological and yoga protests and subsequent problems with Lithuanian authorities, Alaverdi decided to move to Prague, Czech Republic, where they recorded their CD Recycle or Die! in late 2007. Prague has become the base from which they continue to travel Europe.
And thus also Czech fans can meet this enfant terrible of Baltic mantracore.
