Metanoia Lyrics

MetanoiaI saw the light
I changed my world
I changed my heartWe sing a song of repentance
A song of joy
We sing a song of repentance
A song of joyMy father's mansion has many rooms
But we all live on the lowest floor
Don't even know there is light above
This understanding won't do no moreWe sing a song of repentance
We sing a song of joy
We sing a song of repentance
We sing a song of joyI was sitting on a barbed wire fence
Metanoia, it made no sense
How many times I should have cried to you
Now crying won't do no goodWe sing a song of repentance
We sing a song of joy
We sing a song of repentance
We sing a song of joyI saw the river, I've seen the door

I ruled the world, talked to the people
They didn't understand
They went walking, yeah they went walkingI saw (I saw the river) the light
I've seen the door
I changed (I ruled the world) my world
Talked to the people
I changed (they didn't understand) my heart
They went walking, yeah they went walkingMetanoia
MetanoiaCivilisations they come and go
From ancient Greece down to Mexico
The truth gets lost along the way
We're still dragging our feet in clay[Fade]
We sing a song of repentance
We sing a song of joy
We sing a song of repentance
We sing a song of joyMetanoia (metanoia)

Gerald Rafferty (born April 16, 1947, in Paisley, UK and died 4 January 2011) was a Scottish singer and songwriter. In his early years, Gerry Rafferty earned money by the formerly illegal practice of busking on the London Underground. Poetically, his biggest hit "Baker Street" was about busking at a tube station. After working with Billy Connolly (now better known as a comedian) in a band known as The Humblebums, he recorded a first solo album, Can I Have My Money Back.
