Mining Town Lyrics

Said you came from a mining town
They closed the mining down
Said your daddy was a drinker
He had a picture of Jesus on his sinkerMaybe I
Maybe I'm coming for you tonightThis town's only five miles wide
Look everywhere there's a road sign
On tops and places to hide
And cops sit around hungry
Waitin' to dineMaybe I
Maybe I'm coming for you tonightMaybe I
Maybe I'm coming for you tonightSaid you came from a mining town
They closed the mining down
Said your momma was a drinker
She had a picture of Jesus on her sink andMaybe I
Maybe I'm coming for you tonightMaybe I
Maybe I'm coming for you tonightMaybe I
Baby, I'm coming for you tonight

Whiskeytown was an alt-country band from Raleigh, North Carolina founded in 1994 and fronted by Ryan Adams along with violinist Caitlin Cary. The band produced a number of albums before ultimately parting ways in 2000. Other members of the group included guitarists Mike Daly and Phil Wandscher, bassist Steve Grothmann and drummer Skillet Gilmore. Adams and Cary have publicly talked of reuniting Whiskeytown on multiple occasions, as recently as 2005, but as of yet, nothing new has materialized. The two did perform together briefly, along with Skillet Gilmore, on June 8, 2005, in Raleigh.
