Mirage Lyrics

Lonesome and hungry I travel this land
Searching for some place called home
Faceless and nameless, known only by fate
When destiny finds me, no more shall I roam
Tired and thirsty as I travel on
Dreaming of water and wine
Beside a green meadow I stop for a rest
Where a gentle brook winds through the pines
Standing eyes blinded by God's golden waters
My savior was but a facade
Hands sifting sand from a pool full of promise
My oasis was just a mirage
Alone and exhausted I fall to my knees
I can't find the strength to go on
Visions will show me the path as I sleep
And I'll find my way with the dawn
Standing eyes blinded by God's golden waters
My savior was but a facade

Hands sifting sand from a pool full of promise
My oasis was just a mirage
Awakened by voices that whisper my name
I'm all alone in the night
How can a place so empty and cold
Be filled with such glorious light
Standing eyes blinded by God's golden waters
My savior was but a facade
Hands sifting sand from a pool full of promise
My oasis was just a mirage
Standing eyes blinded by God's golden waters
My savior was but a facade
Hands sifting sand from a pool full of promise
My oasis was just a mirage
Lonesome and hungry I travel this land
Searching for some place called home
Faceless and nameless, known only by fate
When destiny finds me, no more shall I roam

Antonio Forcione is an Italian guitarist, composer and performer. He started recording in 1983 and has appeared on dozens of albums.

It has been said that Forcione is "probably the best acoustic guitar player in the world" [citation needed]; he is certainly up there with Tommy Emmanuel in terms of technique and sheer musical eloquence, his playing shares the same fire, passion and inspiration, though Forcione tends towards more jazz (especially gypsy style) and south American influenced styles of playing.

Forcione originally studied percussion, before switching to the guitar. This influence and ability is clear in his playing, which exhibits strong and complex rhythms as well as considerable use of the guitar body for percussive effect.

His albums are all worthy additions to any acoustic music collection, however the stand out ones are generally agreed to be Meet me in London and Dedicato. Talking Hands with Neil Stacey is also worth investigating. Note however that Forcione is undoubtedly at his best live.

Although Italian born, he has been based in London since 1983 and regularly tours the UK and Europe, currently with a sophisticated 4 piece including cello, flute, double bass and percussionist.
