Mississippi Rain (bonus track) (2003 Remastered) Lyrics

I've been thinkin' about the river
And my years there on the other side
It's gotten me wishin' I hadn't come back home
'Cause the pieces just don't fall in line. This town's a stranger and it's left me far behind.Mississippi rain, you keep falling down
And the river gets wider each day
I'll be moving on, I can't stay around
And I can't go back to yesterday. The river's much too wide
The river's much too wide.I left home, started travelin'
I became a southern wind
And now no longer do I belong here
I can never be a part of it again. This town's a stranger and it's left me far behind.Mississippi rain, you keep falling down
And the river gets wider each day
I'll be moving on, I can't stay around
And I cannot go back to yesterday. The river's much too wide
The river's much too wide.Rain, you keep fallin'
Rain, you keep fallin'
Rain, you keep fallin'
The river's much too wide.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is an American country-folk-rock band that has existed in various forms since its founding in Long Beach, California in 1966. The group's membership has had at least a dozen changes over the years, including a period from 1976 to 1981 when the band performed and recorded as The Dirt Band. Constant members since the early times are singer-guitarist Jeff Hanna and drummer Jimmie Fadden. Multi-instrumentalist John McEuen was with the band from 1966 to 1986 and returned during 2001. Keyboardist Bob Carpenter joined the band in 1977. The band is often cited as instrumental to the progression of contemporary country and roots music.
