Mommy, Thank You Lyrics

Do you remember, my first breath
My tiny hands and toes, nobody knows
The comfort your sweet caress as you held me in your arms
And although i couldn't speak to you, I would like to say these words to you.
Do you remember my terrible two's
My tantrums and my blues, but you understood
You'd sing to me in bed at night, snuggled covers up so tight
And although I could barely speak to you,
I would like to say these words to you.
Chorus
Mommy thank you, thank you
For everything you do
Mommy thank you, thank you
I love you
Mommy thank you, thank you
For all you brought me through

Mommy thank you, thank you
I love you
Do you remember my first day of school
You watched me walk away, I was so brave
You taught me to tie my shoes, how to chase away the blues
And although I didn't say it enough to you,
I would like to say these words to you
Do you remember my teenage years
When I knew better than you, I thought you hadn't a clue
You worried my first date, as I returned home late
And although I didn't appreciate you
I would like to say these words to you
Chorus
Do you remember when I went away to school
I finally got my degree, I felt so free
Your gentle words and all you say have helped me along the way
And although you thought I forgot about you
I would like to say these words to you
Do I remember now that I'm grown
With babies of my own, just to pick up the phone
Forgivness of past mistakes, that everybody makes
Now before it is too late to do
I would like to say these words to you
Chorus X2
I love you
I love you

Mary Lambert is good at two things; crying and eating. Nowhere is this better reflected than on her debut EP ‘letters don’t talk’ released in July of 2012. Burrowed away with her friends in the woods of Sequim, Washington recording with the production team of Dungeness Records, she spent 2 years finessing and crafting the poignant and earnest collection of songs. Resembling the subdued softness of artists like Feist and Bon Iver, Lambert has carved a niche for herself, winding profound lyricism around breathy, haunting melodies.
