Monument Lyrics

I built a monument
To every word that passed between us
And I built a monument
To stand through history
And I watch the hourglass
The time will pass
You'll rue the day, love, (?)
When you ever strayed so far from me
I built a monument
To make the time more easy passing
And I built a monument
To stand up straight for me
When all is said and done
The time will come
It might be too low

You'll see a more romantic me
I built a monument
To all we were
I built a monument
To me and her
Now she's coming back
The roof is cracked
And the walls are falling
And all those bitter words
Will flow back to the sea
And I watch the hourglass
The time will pass
You'll rue the day, love, (?)
When you ever strayed so far from me
I built a monument
To all we were
I built a monument
To me and her
And only we can knock it down now
I built a monument
To all we were
I built a monument
To me and her
I built a monument
To all we were
I built a monument
To me and her

The Frames (formed 1990) is a band based primarily in Dublin, Ireland. As of late 2004, the band consists of Glen Hansard (vocals, guitar), Joe Doyle (bass guitar, vocals), Colm Mac Con Iomaire (violin, keyboard and vocals), Rob Bochnik (lead guitar), and Johnny Boyle (drums). On both versions of the album "Fitzcarraldo" the band went by the moniker "The Frames DC", to avoid being mistaken with a United States band of the same name.
