More to Us Than That Lyrics

By michael mcdonaldYou say sometimes you feel like searchin'
For what you think you need
If you go searchin' for life's reward
You'll wind up sailin' the seven seas
cause here and now when lightning strikes
And it drives us to our knees
Only then do we realize
What we don't always seeThat even now in our darkesr hour
We've got the whole universe in our hands
Of all the choices we could make
If we do the lovin' thingSomeday when we look back on this
I doubt if we'll remember much
About the times we hurt each other
The reasons we forgot to trust
There's more to us than thatSometimes I may try to be
Though I know I'm not your answer
But I'm not your problem either baby
In that way we're all the same

And I know if I surrender
It's a lesson we must learn
A simple truth we can understandSomeday when we look back on this
Far enough away to see
That the most we could ask of this life
The best that we can hope to be
Is to be grateful for love so clear
Like a mirror reflects your face
If you search for the tracks of your tears
I know you won't find a trace
There's more to us than thatEvery single tear
Every shattered dream
They're just like pieces of a puzzle
Of themselves not what they seem
Even in our darkest hour
I doubt if we'll remember much
About the times we hurt each other
The reasons we forgot to trust
