Mr. President Lyrics

We've taken all you've given
But it's gettin' hard to make a livin'
Mr. President have pity on the working manWe're not asking you to love us
You may place yourself high above us
Mr. President have pity on the working manI know it may sound funny
But people ev'ry where are runnin' out of money
We just can't make it by ourselfIt is cold and the wind is blowing
We need something to keep us gong
Mr. President have pity on the working manMaybe you've cheated, maybe you've lied
Maybe you have lost your mind
Maybe you're only thinking 'bout yourselfToo late to run, too late to cry now
The time has come for us to say goodbye now
Mr. President have pity on the working manMr. President have pity on the working man

The Marshall Tucker Band is a Southern rock band. Originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina, the band formed in 1972, and soon signed with Capricorn Records. In 1973 they released their first EP, simply titled 'The Marshall Tucker band. Compared to southern rock pioneers and label-mates The Allman Brothers Band, Marshall Tucker had a more country and western feel, with the flute being a key lead instrument in their sound.
