Murder of Birds (Undressed) [feat. Guy Garvey] Lyrics

I'm not a bird
I'm a murder of birds
Shifting my shape
When your tongue finds the wordsLike I hate you when I
Love you the most
Love you the most
Love you the mostThis shape of a snake
In a defensive coil
Same retracted lips
Of the one foolish girlSays she hates you when she
Loves you the most
Loves you the most
Loves youAnd Ive got demons when I need 'em
Don't ask to see them they're not supposed to be used against
You ohCan we build a safe house
Far from the bitter bride
And we'll make a home with a brown recluse
And the cobra locked outsideFor the spider we'll give a web

To the cobra a lullaby
And keeping the demons happy
You make free for me to flyAnd the shape of home baked bread
And the girl in a turned down bed
And a wick of twisted thread
From the loving words you said
BirdsAnd I think Im alone
In desire for grace
Fire only shimmered
And Im no longer safeI say I hate you and I
Love you the most
Love you the most
Love you the mostThis shape of my breast
And a shape of my kiss
Demented coil
With a slither and hissSaid I hate you and I
Love you the most
Love you the most
Love youAnd Ive got demons when I need 'em
Don't ask to see them they're not supposed to be used against
You ohCan we build a safe house
Far from the bitter bride
And we'll make a home with a brown recluse
And the cobra locked outsideTo the spider we'll give a web
To the cobra a lullaby
And keeping the demons happy
You make free for me to flyAnd the shape of home baked bread
And the girl in a turned down bed
And a wick of twisted thread
From the loving words you saidThe shape of home baked bread
And the girl in a turned down bed
And a wick of twisted thread
From the loving words you said'Cause Im not a bird
I'm a murder of birds

Jesca Hoop has lived all over the map, and her rich life experience is reflected in her distinctive voice and natural gift for inventive song craft. Hoop learned to sing at an early age, harmonising with her musical Mormon family in northern California. She began writing highly idiosyncratic songs at the age of 14 to keep her company on her long walks to school. At 16, Hoop broke away from her strict upbringing and began what she calls her 'life as a racoon', off the grid & close to nature.
