Must Be Luff Lyrics

Well, I'm admitting I was drifting
When I came into your harbor
But I feel my spirits lifting
Like a wind just off the starboard bowNow, I know I swore I would love no more
But you hauled in and called my bluff, oh yeah
Take the wind out of my sails
It must be luff, it must be luffOh luff, L U F F, luff
Oh luff, it must be luffI've been down, I've been around
I drink the whiskey, don't drink no water
And this ain't my first seaport town
Oh, I am a salty seaman's daughterBut you rock my boat 'til it will hardly float
And when you talk that soft romantic stuff
Oh, you take the wind out of my sails
It must be luff, it must be luffOh luff, it must be luff
Oh luff, must be luff man, must be luffSo fly that Jolly Roger high
Don't lie, you are a pirate
Shanghaied my heart, stole my soul
Don't you try to deny itOh, how I cried when you took my pride

And when that just weren't enough, oh no
You took the wind out of my sails
It must be luff, it must be luffOh luff, it must be luff
Oh luff, it must be luff
Oh luff, it must be luff, yeah yeah yeah yeah
Oh luff, it must be luff, yeah yeah

Michelle Shocked (born Dallas, Texas, February, 1962) is the stage name of Michelle Karen Johnston, an American singer-songwriter. As a young feminist, she left Texas to travel, Kerouac-style, and was caught up in Reagan-era grassroots politics. Her musical career was ignited by a bootleg recording made around a Kerrville Folk Festival campfire on a Sony walkman. Released in England as ‘The Texas Campfire Tapes’ without Shocked’s authority, its success abroad enticed Mercury Records to offer the newcomer a recording contract.
