My Baby Don't Need No Polish to Shine Lyrics

Words & Music by Ed BruceThe lashes that she bats
Above those big blue eyes are real
The nails she scratches my back with are hers
She's soft and warm all over
No silicone landscaping
She keeps me straight with all those curvesThe good Lord used the best parts
When he put this one together
She's got lots of love to give, and it's all mine
She don't need nothing extra
'Cause she came with all the options
My baby don't need no polish to shineShe don't shop at Neiman-Marcus
She don't need no new Mercedes
She says "thanks" but her red truck will do just fine
I don't wake up in the morning
In a cloud of VO-5
My baby don't need no polish to shine

William Edwin "Ed" Bruce, Jr. (born December 29, 1939) is an American country music songwriter and singer. He is known for penning the 1975 song "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys" and recording the 1982 country number one hit "You're the Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had". Bruce was born in Keiser, Arkansas and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1957, at the age of 17, he went to see Jack Clement, a recording engineer for Sun Records. Bruce caught the attention of Sun owner Sam Phillips, for whom he wrote and recorded "Rock Boppin' Baby" (as "Edwin Bruce").
