My Best Friend (Feat. Ludacris & The Roots) Lyrics

[Intro: Tyrese]
I'm a do everything in my strength to keep you near, let's goAll the Many Days You were on my mind ( Here in My Life, Just You & I)
Visions of me with you, all the time
I do whatever put's the smile on my baby's face ( Here in My Life, Just You & I)
My best friend and you can never be replaced[Verse 1: Black Thought]
I'm on that homicide, suicide, drama like Islamabad
Under God, going overboard like the Amistad
Ringing bells, it was 2012 back in '95
I made it out alive, now finally I've arrived
But still threw back to all my other blue black
People that's sticking to it like, mice to a glue trap
My work speak for itself so I don't interrupt
I am an expert, this is no beginners luck
If you denying the truth, then I don't give a fuck
Otherwise get your hands and your antennas up
As we go into our initial decent, I'm alive, but only fifty percent
I'm praying God give me the strength[Hook: Main Event West]
It's like somebody turned on the light

It's like somebody started a fire, and I
Feel so alive... Finally I've realized that
I don't have to tell myself twice, I know
That you changed my whole life and if
I know there's one thing that's the truth
I know I'd be lost if I lost you[Hook: Tyrese]
( Here in My Life, Just You & I)
What am I gonna do?
( Here in My Life, Just You & I)
My Best Friend, You can never be replaced[Verse 2: Ludacris]
They say tomorrow's not promised today
But today I promise If we don't make our own way
Somebody'll take it from us
Snatch it like rats to cheese
So, lord help me please cause I rather die
On my feet than to live on my knees
Living like I'm bulletproof
Cocking the Glock and aim and shoot
My future's ever clear a 180 proof
So I open the bottle then swallow my pride
And drink the pain away
I take shots and just lay up then fade away
Dreaming of better days dreaming of better pay
But we got our work cut out for us so we better pray
Pray to uphold the week, not for eternal sleep
But if I die I pray the lord my soul to keep[Hook: Main Event West]
It's like somebody turned on the light
It's like somebody started a fire, and I
Feel so alive... Finally I've realized that
I don't have to tell myself twice, I know
That you changed my whole life and if
I know there's one thing that's the truth
I know I'd be lost if I lost you(Tyrese - Outro)
( Here in My Life, Just You & I)
( Here in My Life, Just You & I)
You can never be replaced

Tyrese Darnell Gibson (born December 30, 1978), also known simply as Tyrese, is an American R&B singer, rapper, actor, former fashion model and MTV VJ. After releasing several albums, he transitioned into films, with lead roles in several Hollywood releases including Baby Boy, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Four Brothers, Waist Deep, Death Race, Transformers and Fast Five.

Gibson, who was once a member of a rap group called Triple Impact, released his self-titled debut music album, which went platinum, in 1998; his second album, 2000 Watts, shares the name of the organization he founded to help inner city children. Gibson was given the role originally intended for the late 2Pac Shakur in the 2001 film Baby Boy; the movie was a critical success and performed fairly at the box office. Gibson subsequently appeared in the 2003 box office success 2 Fast 2 Furious (opposite Paul Walker, with whom he formed a close friendship during filming), as well as Flight of the Phoenix (2004), Four Brothers (2005) and Annapolis (2006), co-starring James Franco. Gibson was picked as one of People Magazine’s Sexiest Men of the Year in 2000.

Gibson has also established himself as a successful screenwriter, selling the pitches D.A. Verdict to MGM and Extortion to Universal Studios. In 2006, Gibson sold his first original spec script, To Each His Own, to Screen Gems. He is to star in and produce all of the films. Gibson has also created HQ Pictures, a television and film production company. He has hired Mike Le as VP of development & production to oversee and develop projects under the company’s banner.

Gibson’s latest film is Waist Deep, in which he plays a man fighting to rescue his son from kidnappers; his co-stars in the film, Meagan Good and Larenz Tate, are personal friends of Gibson’s in real life. Like several of his previous roles, the film is set in an urban environment, but Gibson has said that he does not view the role as a “step back”, rather seeing the film as taking “another direction” due to some of its themes and action sequences. Waist Deep was released on June 23, 2006.

Gibson prefers his music career to acting, but will focus on both areas. His third album is called Alter Ego, and featured both R&B and hip hop songs. He used an alias, “Black Ty”, for the rap tracks. Tyrese had a role in the Transformers movie, released July of 2007; the film’s director, Michael Bay, had Gibson in mind for the role before he was cast, and thus Gibson did not have to audition for the part.

Tyrese's fourth and latest album Open Invitation was released on November 1, 2011 in the US. It was preceeded by the single "Stay" which peaked on U.S. Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at number 11. The second single "Too Easy" features Ludacris and was released soon after.
