My Daddy Told Me Lyrics

My daddy told me "these are the rules"
And then he showed me how to play ʻem cool
He said "too many faces and too many lies"
My daddy told me "donʼt be too wise"(Do, do as I do)
My daddy told me "these are the rules"
and then he told me "say what I say and be you"
(Do, do as you do)
And all the things you wonʼt learn in school
And then he said "you gotta be true"
My daddy told me "no game no win"
And the he told me "go let love begin"
He said "many will come and many will go"
My daddy told me "just take it slow"(Do, do as I do)
My daddy told me "these are the rules"
and then he told me "say what I say and be you"
(Do, do as you do)
And all the things you wonʼt learn in school
And then he said "you gotta be true"Hold on these words that I say

Roll out the world on the way, on and on and on!My daddy told me "donʼt sell your soul"
And then he showed me, showed me how to roll
He said "a million to one, just stick to your guns"
My daddy told me "donʼt come undone"
(Do, do as I do)
My daddy told me "these are the rules"
and then he told me "say what I say and be you"
(Do, do as you do)
And all the things you wonʼt learn in school
And then he said "you gotta be, gotta be true"
