My Heart Wants To Run Lyrics

There's a voice inside my head tellin' me it's time
To go
That I've done all I could do to hide what I don't
Wanna know
But, with your tender kiss there's still
A tentativeness
That's got me movin' slow
And even though I'm walkin' outMy heart wants to run
My heart wants to run
My heart wants to run
All the way back to youAfter only nine lonely giant steps I managed to
Make it to my car
And drive off without once lookin' back to how
Beautiful you are
You know all the space between love and hate
Really ain't that far
And must be is the reason whyMy heart wants to run
My heart wants to run

My heart wants to run
All the way back to youWell, I've gone as long as I could
I prayed for strength, and I've knocked on wood
It doesn't seem to do much good that I
Wished upon a star
And tore myself apart
All to stop my heartMy heart wants to run
My heart wants to run
My heart wants to run
All the way back to youYeah, all the way back to you
Oh, all the way back to youNow I'm holdin' my breath, and countin' to ten
That ain't worked since God knows when
Goin' cold turkey, wearin' the patch
Swearin' I will never ever go back, no
Findin' comfort in a good ol' friend
Another night out, I'll be checkin'myself in
That's it, it's over and done
Even though I know my heart still wants to run
Straight back to you

Steve Azar was born and raised in Greenville, Mississippi at the entrance to the Mississippi Delta. His mother was raised above the family grocery store located on Highway 61 in Clarksdale, MS near the infamous “Crossroads”. “The Crossroads” is the intersection of Route 61 and Route 49, or the 61/49 split as they call it there, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, made famous in the Robert Johnson song, “Cross Road Blues”. This is where Delta Blues legend Robert Johnson supposedly sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for mastery of the blues, or so the story goes.
