My Little Georgia Rose Lyrics

Now come and listen to my story
A story that I know is true
A little rose that bloomed in Georgia
With hair of gold and a heart so trueWay down in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Way down where the tall pines grow
Lives my sweetheart of the mountains
She's my little Georgia roseHer mother left her with another
A carefree life she had planned
The baby now is a lady
The one her mother couldn't standWay down in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Way down where the tall pines grow
Lives my sweetheart of the mountains
She's my little Georgia roseWe often sing those songs together
I watched her do her little part
She smiled at me when I would tell her
That she was my sweetheartWay down in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Way down where the tall pines grow
Lives my sweetheart of the mountains

She's my little Georgia rose

Bill Monroe (September 13, 1911 – September 9, 1996) developed the style of country music known as bluegrass, which takes its name from his band, the "Blue Grass Boys," named for his home state of Kentucky. Monroe's performing career spanned 60 years as a singer, instrumentalist, composer and bandleader. He is often referred to as "the father of bluegrass." In the rock (and roll) community, Bill Monroe may be best known via one of Elvis Presley's earliest recordings at Sun Records, that of Monroe's 'Blue Moon of Kentucky'. Patsy Cline also made a highly regarded version of this song.
