DJ Clue
New Memphis Bleek
Understand what this shit right here is about
Understand what this shit right here is about
From Marcy
Understand me, yeah, yoThis for the streets and you know I ain't goin' nowhere
Get your guns out who want it with Memphis yeah
I'ma make you understand why I do what I do
Why I keep my hat tilt, and my doorag tooI'm a thug, my heart pump gangsta shit
I fuck with her, she my gangsta bitch
My wrists don't freeze, glocks'll squeeze
Whole click got a watch, droppin' keysAnd I want the block back
You niggas had your run, we'll stop that, you better watch this cat
I done came up, and fuck bringin' your name up
It's beef I'ma see you, and bang 'til you hang upYour life on line, but here's the truth
You ain't hype to die, but you hype to shoot
You let the Henny talk for you, you really a bitch
Why the D's know your name 'cuz you really a snitchI got my mind right, money right, ready for war

'Memph Bleek Is', yeah, I told you before
I got the streets locked, Bleek hot as before
You know the game and the name now I'm ready to warI got my mind right, money right, ready for war
'Memph Bleek Is', yeah, I told you before
I got the streets locked, Bleek hot as before
You know the game and the name now I'm ready to war'Memph Bleek Is', back for the streets
Knowin' that 'Coming of Age', controllin' the creep
Put in work on these streets, bustin' my heat
Dodgin' the D's, you know it's a margin between meAnd only a few fit in, your lifestyle's written
So who you supposed to be, play your position
I used to write to the wall, about the Porsche
Now I write for the house and the rob reportI used to think, Bleek and the baddest bitch
Now the, baddest bitch is a average bitch
All I need her is for head and to stash my lead
Push my V, take this key to HempsteadAnd you run through backwoods, I twist backwoods
And greenery, sha shoo with heavy machinery
You know exactly who these streets belong to
B.I.G. done warned you and I'ma run up on you, niggaI got my mind right, money right, ready for war
'Memph Bleek Is', yeah, I told you before
I got the streets locked, Bleek hot as before
You know the game and the name now I'm ready to warI got my mind right, money right, ready for war
'Memph Bleek Is', yeah, I told you before
I got the streets locked, Bleek hot as before
You know the game and the name now I'm ready to warAyo I think I'm the best, from coast to coast
I'm above rap cats, they know what I gross
What they make from they album, I do at my show
Your advance is what, I spent that when I was brokeI ship gold, you better watch me now
Many middle in this game, at the top I'm found
I wanted these cats, reppin' my hood, then go back
Be on the same old bench, with the same old rapI'm from Marcy, you see them cars we buy
Seats up, smoke blunts, with my concubine
Twin, P-89 for you two fake faggits
Tucked under the lining of the Roc-A-Wear fabricFuck y'all, you know the squad be 'bout
Anything that involve dollar signs and accounts
It's the M dot E M P H man stop
I bought C a watch, next day I bought a houseI got my mind right, money right, ready for war
'Memph Bleek Is', yeah, I told you before
I got the streets locked, Bleek hot as before
You know the game and the name now I'm ready to warI got my mind right, money right, ready for war
'Memph Bleek Is', yeah, I told you before
I got the streets locked, Bleek hot as before
You know the game and the name now I'm ready to war

Malik Thuston Cox (born on June 23, 1978) better known as Memphis Bleek, is a Brooklyn rapper who made his first appearance in Hip Hop on Jay-Z's debut album, Reasonable Doubt in 1996. Memphis Bleek regularly came in contact with rap legends such as The Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z during his childhood, and has collaborated with artists such as Beanie Sigel, Ja Rule and Missy Elliott, among others. "Memphis" is an acronym for Making Easy Money Pimping Hoes In Style.

Early years

Memphis "One Hit Away" Bleek's first mainstream rap vocals appeared on the Clark Kent produced song "Coming of Age", featured on Jay-Z's classic debut LP Reasonable Doubt. Shortly after, Bleek became the first artist signed to Roc-A-Fella Records.

"Coming of Age", ironiclly, was also the title of Memphis' debut LP, which didn't create massive records sales and chart-topping singles as his labelmate and peers' albums had. The same was the case of his second LP, "The Understanding", and third, "M.A.D.E", though the latter spawned his largest amount of sales yet (900,000).

Get Low label and rivalries

In the time between the releases of his second and third albums, Memphis Bleek started his own label, Get Low, which in turn led to the signing of former Junior MAFIA member Lil' Cease. The name of the label has sparked a hip-hop rivalry, or beef, between Memphis Bleek, JT tha Bigga Figga & The Game, the former of which built an independent record label with the same title.

Memphis Bleek was also caught in the middle of the epic Jay-Z and Nas battle, in which Bleek gained a few enemies, most notably Nas and Mobb Deep. Despite boosting Jay-Z and Nas's careers, the beef did little to help Bleek gain any more popularity than he had already attained.

Later years

Remaining one hit away, on May 17, 2005, Bleek released his fourth album titled "534" , in reference to the building he & mentor Jay-Z grew up in, located in the Marcy housing projects of Brooklyn. However, like many of Bleeks previous releases the album suffered in sales, despite decent exposure of the Swizz Beatz produced single 'Like That'.

In fall 2005, Memphis Bleek told MTV that he was recording an album called "The Process", that he would describe as a make or break album, saying "I want to do an album that's through the roof, I want to do a classic album. I feel that if this album I'm not recording is a classic, I'm not even gonna put it out. I have to do it bigger than anybody has ever done it. I have to make a good record this time, not just talking-junk records."The rapper has worked on the album since 2005 and during that time frame he would release the songs "Hustla", "Get Ya Money Off" and "Let It Off". During this time, he would also leave Roc-A-Fella after Jay-Z told him he could run his own company and had the proper distribution deals to do so. He found a new home in 2009 when he signed to Mass Appeal Entertainment which is where he will release his long anticipated album The Process is yet.
