My Own Time (I'll Do What I Want) Lyrics

Walking through the snow kicking my heels
Seems that sunlight never felt so good before
Bet you really don't know how it feels
I don't have to answer to anyone no more
(sounds like 'no one')
And better I've never felt
Nothing to show, but nothing to lose,
I'm on my own
Cast your mind back not so long ago
I was always busy playing by the rules
Bet you really thought I didn't know
(actually 'thought I really' )
You were double-dealing, now you're back
At school
Something you didn't learn
Faith in myself
Gives me the strength to carry on...

I'll do what I want to anyway
I'll do what I want and I'll do it in
My own time
Don't give me that same old pack of lies
I'll tell you the story, how it really is
Want me to carry on? ( this line is in liner, but not in song )
You think you always had the upper hand
(actually 'me under ties' )
Someone better tell you that the tide had turned
(actually "table's" )
Getting your fingers burned, how does it feel?
Now it's for real this is the deal
I'll do what I want to anyway
I'll do what I want and I'll do it in
My own time is on my side again
And one thing I intend
Is I'll do it in
My own time

There is more than one band named Asia.

1) Asia is a progressive rock supergroup formed in the spring of 1981 by bassist and vocalist John Wetton (from King Crimson and Uk), guitarist Steve Howe (from Yes), drummer Carl Palmer (from Emerson, Lake & Palmer) and keyboardist Geoffrey Downes (from Buggles and Yes).

The band sold over nine million albums worldwide with their first self-titled Asia, that include the singles Heat of the Moment and Only Time Will Tell.

In 1990, Asia released its 4th album called Then & Now and only Geoffrey Downes continues with Asia along with bassist, vocalist and producer John Payne until 2004 when they published their 11th album Silent Nation, along with guitarist Guthrie Govan and drummer Chris Slade (from AC/DC).
The band emerged from its ashes commemorating the 25 anniversary of the original formation that brought it success in 1982 with a tour of North America, a DVD and a promotional CD.

Asia returned in 2008 with its first original album from the original line-up with "Phoenix" April 15, 2008, which was followed by a well received tour.

2) Asia was an excellent progressive hard rock band with epic and pomp rock hints. The band is from South Dakota (US) and should not be confused with the famous UK one. They released 2 albums: Asia (1979) and Armed to the Teeth (1980)
