My Rose of Old Kentucky Lyrics

She bloomed for me near a little village
In a cabin on the hill
We made our vows, we'd love each other
And I know we always willShe's my rose of old Kentucky
I watched her bloom as the years rolled by
And to me, there'll never be another
I'll love her till the day I dieOh, in dreams, I see my darling
In a gingham dress, she looks so sweet
Oh, I long for old Kentucky
And my darling was more to meShe's my rose of old Kentucky
I watched her bloom as the years rolled by
And to me, there'll never be another
I'll love her till the day I dieOh, I know, you often wonder
So I'll tell you the reason why
She's my rose of old Kentucky
And I know she'll never lieShe's my rose of old Kentucky
I watched her bloom as the years rolled by
And to me, there'll never be another

I'll love her till the day I die

Bill Monroe (September 13, 1911 – September 9, 1996) developed the style of country music known as bluegrass, which takes its name from his band, the "Blue Grass Boys," named for his home state of Kentucky. Monroe's performing career spanned 60 years as a singer, instrumentalist, composer and bandleader. He is often referred to as "the father of bluegrass." In the rock (and roll) community, Bill Monroe may be best known via one of Elvis Presley's earliest recordings at Sun Records, that of Monroe's 'Blue Moon of Kentucky'. Patsy Cline also made a highly regarded version of this song.
