My Town Lyrics

There's a for sale sign on a big ol rusty tractor
you can't miss it it's the first thing that you'll see
and just up the road a pale blue water tower
with I love jenny painted in bright green
and that's my uncle ray there by the courthouse
he'll be lowering the flag when the sun goes down
this is my townwhere I was born where I was raised where I keep
all my yesterday's where I ran off cause I got mad
when it came to blows with my old man
where I came back to settle down
it's where they'll put me in the ground
this is my town my townwell there ain't much goin on
here since they closed the mill
but that whistle still blows every day at noon
there's a bunch of us still going down to the diner
wondering if that interstate still coming through
come Sunday morning service at the church of Christ there ain't an empty seat to be found
this is my townREPEAT CHORUS

Montgomery Gentry is a country music duo, founded in the 1990s, consisting of Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry. Eddie Montgomery is the older brother of John Michael Montgomery. Some sources say that Troy Gentry is the son of Bobbie Gentry, which is untrue. Troy's parents are Lloyd and Pat Gentry. Eddie, Troy, and John were in a band called Early Tymz. Eddie and Troy continued to perform after John left to pursue a solo career. The duo went through several name changes before they decided to call themselves Montgomery Gentry. Eddie Montgomery is bald and seemingly always wears a hat. Eddie also has a habit of twirling his microphone on stage, which has become somewhat of a signature.

The band has released five CDs including "Some People Change" which was released in 2006
