New Agenda Lyrics

It ain't nothin' but an us thang
And it's time for us to step it up and respect
(Amen)
That level of sisterhood
That's been holding up our neighborhood
And if it wasn't for our mothers
There would be no brothers
(Amen)
And if it wasn't for our sisters
There would be no misters
So it ain't nothin' but a us thang
She's strong and that's a fact
Now it's time for us to take up the slack
Step it up, step it up, time to go to workHistory hidden from me
(Hey)
To hide my identity
So I'd never feel
I am somebodyYou've gouged my eyes

I see more clearly
You've tried to rob
My humanity
(Oh now)My spirit you tried to break
(No)
My soul you tried to take
(I took)
There's no need to be afraid
'Cause I won't do unto you now(Amen)
(Hey)
All that we've been through
(Turn your body down)
Our time has come to rejoice
(Oh)
A new agenda's due(Amen)
It's time to know the truth
(You don't wannabe)
Our time has come to rejoice
(Rejoice)
A new agenda's dueStep it up, step it up, better check this up
I think it's best we protect what we have got left(No, no)
Because of my gender
(No)
I've heard no too many times
Because of my race
I've heard no too many times
(No, no)
But with every no
(No)
I grow in strength
(That is why)
That is why
African-American woman
I stand tall with pride
(I stand tall with pride)You want to know what it takes
(Wanna know)
To rid yourself of me now
There's nothing you can do
Accept me for who I am now(Amen)
All that we've been through
(Hey)
Our time has come to rejoice
(Yeah)
A new agenda's dueCheck it out, check it out, gotta check it out
Listen to me gotta check it out, come on we will do it now
Come on, come on step it upAmen
All that we've been through
(Step it up)
Our time has come to rejoice
A new agenda's dueAmen
(Everybody, everybody)
It's time to know the truth
Our time has come to rejoice
(Hey)
A new agenda's dueStep it up, step it up, this time step it up
Step it up, check it up, come onTime to step it up, step it up
Better check yourself
I get vexed to protect what we got
Left her alone
Lookin' for your own
Here it is I know what I'm sayin'
But the klan ain't playin' at the range
Gotta step it up us to discuss a must
It ain't nothin' but an us thang
Rewind back to the time
Where the color of our mother
Had 'em call it a crime
Brother what in the world?
And the world says where is the black man
Support the woman and children
Time to step it up, step it up, it's playoff time
And the rhyme go to check, so check yourselfAmen
(Step it up, step it up)
A new agenda's due(Amen)
All that we've been through
Our time has come to rejoice
(Oh)
A new agenda's due
(C'mon step it up)(Amen)
It's time to know the truth
(Give all a bit)
Our time has come to rejoice
(Respect)
A new agenda's due(Amen)
(All that we've been through)
All that we've been through
(Yeah)
Our time has come to rejoice
(This is our time)
A new agenda's dueAmen
(Hey)
It's time to know the truth
(It's time to know the truth)
Our time has come to rejoice
(Our time has come to rejoice)
(It's time to know the truth)
A new agenda's due
(Respect)Amen
All that we've been through
Our time has come to rejoice

Janet Damita Jo Jackson (born May 16, 1966 in Gary, Indiana, United States) is a Grammy award-winning, and Golden Globe and Academy Award-nominated American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actress.

The youngest of the Jackson family, she initially stepped into the limelight in the family's 1974 Las Vegas production, 1976 television show, and later on her own as a television actress. At age sixteen in 1982, she signed a recording contract with A&M, releasing her self-titled debut album Janet Jackson that same year, followed by Dream Street (1984).

In an effort to establish her own identity apart from her famous family, Jackson teamed up with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in the mid 1980s, creating a superstar-making partnership which has lasted to the present day. Jackson's breakout album, Control (1986), led to the Grammy-winning albums Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989), janet. (1993), The Velvet Rope (1997), All for You (2001), and Grammy-nominated albums Damita Jo (2004) and 20 Y.O. (2006).

In 1990, with the release of Black Cat from her Rhythm Nation 1814 album, Jackson became the first and only artist in Billboard history to score a #1 hit on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, R&B chart, Dance chart, Adult Contemporary chart, and Rock chart. When "Black Cat" hit #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock singles chart as well as Billboard's Hot 100, it was the first time a song had hit #1 simultaneously on both of those charts.

Together Again sold over 700,000 in the UK, making it one of the biggest selling singles ever in the UK by a female artist, and sold an overall total of four million copies.

In 2004, Jackson ranked as the ninth most successful artist in the history of rock and roll according to Billboard. Jackson also holds the record for the most Billboard Music Awards won by a single artist, a record 33. In 2006, it was announced that Jackson was the "Most Searched on the Internet" and the "Most Searched-for News Item" in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2007, she was ranked the seventh richest woman in the entertainment business by Forbes Magazine, amassing a fortune of over $150 million
