New Brighton Lyrics

It's where we swam to, when I was younger
I remember how you held me under
I was brand new being underwater
But I'm stronger now, that I'm a father
I got worries now, weight on my shoulders
'bout the future and how we're getting older
And it's funny now seeing you for hours
in that silly frown
It doesn't suit youAnd I been kinda thinking about the simple life
How I wanna lead it
And I been kinda thinking about the real world
With you, how can we do it
I, I,It was a bad idea, bring them here
Cause they got shifty eyes
All they see is paradise
But we got a hold here what I work for and
It's only fair that I get an answer that I want to hear
the facts and figures 'bout the atmosphere,

how I could affect itAnd I been kinda thinking about the simple life
How I wanna lead it
And I been kinda thinking about the real world
With you, how can we do it
I, I,With a battle we fought up the villain
Cause us to retreat 300 miles
To the safety of our New Brighton
Where we treat our injured squires
And with the front lines crossed
We swore we'd reveal no secrets at all
We're just lonely boys with our submarine toysAnd I been kinda thinking about the simple life
How I wanna lead it
And I been kinda thinking about the real world
With you, how could we do it
I, I.

Said the Whale is a Canadian band formed in 2007 as a collaboration between songwriters Ben Worcester and Tyler Bancroft. The pair’s debut EP, Taking Abalonia, featured sunny west coast indie pop, with breezy harmonies, shimmering guitars and lyrical tributes to their home city of Vancouver, “nodding at times to the sea shanties of Neutral Milk Hotel and at others to the boat-shoe-gazing of Vampire Weekend” said The National Post.
