New Orleans Lyrics

Well, I went south with a case of survival
To amend my heart that's paper thin
You see I felt her words and her images follow
I'm gonna carry my heart to New Orleans
I have no home to go so I wander awhile
From coast to coast, from sin to sin
From the coldest shores to the warmest islands
I've been around the world, back to New Orleans
Well, she's got a pride like a million lions
She's got a scar on her velvet face
She's got a smile like a newborn child
She's gotta walk, a stoic grace
I never slept that night until my arrival
I romanticized a long embrace
You see I lost my tongue and burned my Bible
But made it back home to New Orleans
Well, she's got a pride like a million lions

She's got a scar on her velvet face
She's got a smile like a newborn child
She's gotta walk a stoic grace
Well, I held my breath and I swam for miles
When all was lost and hell took place
You see it rained all night and the city she flooded
It rained all night in New Orleans
Yeah, it rained all night in New Orleans
Yeah, it rained all night in New Orleans
Yeah, it rained all night in New Orleans

Rancid is a punk rock band which formed in Berkeley, California, United States in 1991. The band consists of Tim "Lint" Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Lars Frederiksen (guitar), Matt Freeman (bass) and Brendan Stieneckert (drums). The band has released seven albums: "Rancid" (1993), "Let's Go" (1994), "...And Out Come the Wolves" (1995), "Life Won't Wait" (1998), "Rancid" (2000), "Indestructible" (2003) and "Let the Dominoes Fall" (2009). The band originally consisted of Armstrong, Freeman (both former members of Operation Ivy) and drummer Brett Reed, with Frederiksen joining in 1993. Reed left in 2006 and was replaced by Stieneckert.

To date, Rancid has released seven studio albums, one split album, one compilation, two extended plays, and a series of live online-only albums, and has been featured on a number of compilation albums. The band has independently sold over four million records worldwide,[4] making it one of the most successful independent punk groups of all time. The band rose to fame in 1994 with its second studio album, Let's Go, featuring the single "Salvation". In the following year, Rancid released its highly successful album ...And Out Come the Wolves, which produced its best-known songs "Roots Radicals", "Ruby Soho" and "Time Bomb", and was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA, selling over one million copies in the United States alone. Its next four albums, Life Won't Wait, Rancid, Indestructible and Let the Dominoes Fall, were also critically acclaimed, though not as successful as ...And Out Come the Wolves. Rancid is currently working on an eighth studio album, which is said to be recorded in September 2011, and expected to be released in 2012.
