New York (Teenager South of Huston Mix) Lyrics

Hey hey, I know it wasn't New York
Where I lost my mindHey hey, I know I must have left it
It was back home all the time,
And where were you while we lay
So drunk that we diedHey hey, I know, but who could blame us,
Under pressureAnd I know,
I should have stayed in bed,
And I know,
I should have stayed in bed,
And I know,
I should have stayed in bedHey hey, I know its just a toothache,
I won't even cryHey hey, the candy store prescriptions
All lined up in the aisles
And where were you while we lay
Shipwrecked in denialHey hey, its just a pill to help you
Sleep right through the nightI should have stayed in bed
And I know
I should have stayed in bed

I know I should have stayed in bedBecause tomorrow's gonna be another party
You stay too long until the lights get lonely
Oh tomorrow's gonna be another party
Wait too long til we all stay out of the
Sun, sun, sun, sunAnd I know,
I should have stayed in bed,
And I know,
I should have stayed in bedI know, I know, it wasn't New York, New York
I know, I know, it wasn't New York, New YorkNew York, New York
New York, New York

Eskimo Joe is alt-rock band from Fremantle, Western Australia comprising Kavyen Temperley (bass/vocals), Joel Quartermain (guitar/drums) and Stuart MacLeod (guitar)
The group initally formed to compete in the National Campus Band Competition in 1997. Temperley and Quartermain were already in a band at the time, Freud's Pillow, but had met with little success and asked Temperley's childhood friend MacLeod to form a new band, which became Eskimo Joe. The band ended up winning the competition prize: a slot at the 1997 Livid Festival and a session in a studio to record their first EP, Sweater.
