Night Flight Lyrics

We spend our nights traveling
But never leave the room
Soaring through the midnight clouds
Followed by the moon
You teach me what I never knew
So easily
You take me where I've never been
Stay with me
You tell me things I've never heard
Without a word
Without a wordNight flight
Leaving this old earth behind
Who knows what we'll find
The higher we climb
Night flight
Never been so far from home
Together alone
Destination unknownMy mind does not belong to me

You interrupt my day
And when I try to concentrate,
You steal my thoughts away
And even when we're miles apart,
I feel your hand and
Memory is more real to me
Than where I am
Suddenly, I stop and stare
Though you're not there,
You're everywhereNight flight
Leaving this old earth behind
Who knows what we'll find
The higher we climb
Night flight
Never been so far from home
Together alone
Destination unknownNight flight
So like night flightSo like night flight
(repeat and fade out)

McGovern was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Mary Rita Welsh and James Terrence McGovern.[1] She has Irish ancestry.[2] As a child, McGovern would listen to her father's barbershop quartet rehearse in their home. She was told by her elders that she began singing at the tender age of three, and would sometimes sing herself to sleep with things she heard on the radio. She decided at age eight that she wanted to be a professional singer; and she developed a taste for various types of music, including jazz, showtunes, oldies, and folk. Her influences include Barbra Streisand and Dionne Warwick.
