No Mother Lyrics

In the valley of the shadows, Im waiting
For mother and the other ones I love
So know Ill always love you
Until we meet aboveIn the battle of the bottle Im an innocent
And the breaking of glass Im lost
In the shadow of a downtown overpass
My last I did exhaustNo, no, no mother
Should ever have to lose a son
No, no, no never
Especially not such a handsome oneIn the middle of the meadow, Im waiting
For mother and the other ones I love
Theres no good why this came to pass
Theres only just becauseNo, no, no mother
Should ever have to lose a son
No, no, no never
Especially not such a handsome oneIn the valley of the shadows, Im waiting
For mother and the other ones I love
So know, Ill always love you

Until we meet aboveNo, no, no mother
Should ever have to lose a son
No, no, no never
Especially not such a handsome oneNo, no, no, no mother
Should ever have to lose a son
No, no, no, no never
Especially not such a handsome one

Old 97's are an alt-country band originally based in Dallas, Texas, USA. The group formed in 1993 and took their name from a song popularized by Johnny Cash, "Wreck of the Old '97". They describe themselves as a rock band with influences as varied as The Kinks, The Beatles, Pixies, David Bowie, X, and Merle Haggard. The band often performs songs made famous by the latter two musicians, and has interspersed a number of these on their eight releases since 1994.
