Not Cause I Wanted To Lyrics

Well I’m calling you
Cause you deserve to know
You were not the reason
That I had to go
Late at night
In these hotel rooms
I think of all I’ve lost
And what I put you through
If I knew the reason I would tell you
Why somehow the feeling slipped away
I only did what I had to do
Not cause I wanted to
I’ve got a guilty heart
And a troubled mind
No matter where I go
They’re never far behind
I’d like to think

That you’ve forgiven me
But forgiveness ain’t enough to wash my conscious clean
Oh and if I knew the reason I would tell you
Why somehow the feeling slipped away
I only did what I had to do
Not cause I wanted to
I only did what I had to do
Not cause I wanted to

Bonnie Raitt, (born November 8, 1949) is an American blues and R&B singer, songwriter, and guitarist who was born in Burbank, California, the daughter of Broadway musical star John Raitt. Raitt began playing guitar at an early age, something not a lot of her high school girlfriends did. "I had played a little at school and at camp," she later recalled in a July 2002 interview. "My parents would drag me out to perform for my family, like all parents do, but it was a hobby—nothing more...I think people must wonder how a white girl like me became a blues guitarist.
