Number Ten Lullaby Lane Lyrics

Wasn't it -- a lucky thing -- when we got caught in the rain?
We found ourselves on the doorstep -- of Number Ten Lullaby Lane.
And wasn't it -- a lucky thing -- the man came out to explain
That we were just the right people -- for Number Ten Lullaby Lane.
He said that we -- could move right in -- if we would sign the lease,
But when we said -- we weren't wed -- he said that he was also the Justice of the Peace.
So if you're in -- the neighborhood --and you get caught in the rain,
You'll find us waiting to greet you -- at Number Ten Lullaby Lane.
The song is from the early 1940s or before.

Harry Haag James (March 15, 1916 – July 5, 1983) was a popular United States musician and band leader, and a well known trumpet virtuoso. Harry James was born in Albany, Georgia, the son of a bandleader of a traveling circus. By age 10 he was taking trumpet lessons from his father. His father had him on a very strict practicing schedule every day. He was given one page to learn out of the Arban's book (a trumpet drill book) every day and could not do anything until he learned that page.
