On My Street Lyrics

Won't you visit my town?
Ain't too far, you just go eight miles underground
And take The Diamond Mine straight to my streetEverybody you know
Is dying to meet you
('Cause they all told me so)
And Tojo booked you HoJo's bridal suiteLight a candle with a star
Turn around and there you are
On my street you can drive no carAnybody could see
The Flying Doctor's been barking up the wrong tree
Cecil B. De Mille lives on my streetCY O'Connor's feeling depressed
And Gypsy Rose Lee is always under-dressed
While Liberace is playing with his feetFly Sinatra to the moon
You'll be back by afternoon
On my street you can call the tuneYou're on my street

Hoodoo Gurus (sometimes just shortened to 'Gurus') are an Australian rock band combining elements of seventies power pop, bubblegum pop, Beatle-esque harmonies, psychedelia and grungy garage rock. Guitarists Dave Faulkner, Rod Radalj, and Kimble Rendall were joined by drummer James Baker when the band formed in Sydney in 1981. Baker and Radalj had been members of Perth band The Scientists in 1977-79, while Baker had drummed with Faulkner and in another Perth band, The Victims, in 1978-79.
