On The Rise Lyrics

As I walk through frozen sands
Through the flames of burning lands
My feet are torn, they're torn to strands
I will not thirstAs I cross the raging sea
Waves are crashing over me
They drag me down, they drag me down
I will not drownThey'll know my name
After the storms are passing through
They'll know my name
When they've forgotten all about you
They'll know my name
After the storms are passing through
They'll know my name
When they've forgotten all about youThey're calling out, they're calling out my name
They're calling out, they're calling out my nameAnd I shall rise, oh well I shall rise
Again and again
I shall rise, oh well I shall rise
Again and again

And I shall rise, oh well I shall rise
Again and again
I shall rise, oh well I shall rise
Again and againI shall rise, oh well I shall rise
Again and again
I shall rise, oh well I shall rise
Again and again

The S.O.S. Band is an American funk / soul musical ensemble, founded in Atlanta, Georgia, USA in 1977. The "SOS" acronym stands not for "Save Our Souls", but for "Sounds of Success". The band, fronted by Mary Davis, was initially famous for the post-disco hit "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" in 1979. In 1982, they joined forces with then-new production team Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, who went on to craft a string of R&B hits for the group, including "Just Be Good to Me", "Tell Me If You Still Care", "Feeling", and "Borrowed Love".
