On The Sunny Side Of The Street Lyrics

Grab your coat and get your hat
Leave your worry on the doorstep
Just direct your feet
To the sunny side of the street
Can't you hear a pitter pat
And that happy tune is your step
Life can be so sweet
On the sunny side of the streetI used to walk in the shade
With those blues on parade
But no I'm not afraid
This Rover crossed overIf I never have a cent
I'd be rich as Rockefeller
Gold dust at my feet
On the sunny side of the streetGrab your coat and get your hat
Leave your worry on the doorstep
Just direct your feet
To the sunny side of the street
Can't you hear a pitter pat

And that happy tune is your step
Life can be so sweet
On the sunny side of the streetI used to walk in the shade
With those blues on parade
But no I'm not afraid
This Rover crossed overIf I never have a cent
I'd be rich as Rockefeller
With gold dust at my feet
On the sunny side of the street

Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) was a trumpet player, singer, and bandleader, and is widely regarded as one of the most influential artists in the history of jazz. Armstrong was born and brought up in New Orleans, a culturally diverse town with a unique musical mix of creole, ragtime, marching bands, and blues. Although from an early age he was able to play music professionally, he didn't travel far from New Orleans until 1922, when he went to Chicago to join his mentor, King Oliver.
