On This Side of the Moon Lyrics

Some folks look through telescopes
And dream of flying high above the stars
And they say it won't be long
Till we can all hop on a ship to MarsWell, I'm just a simple man
There's a lot that I don't know
But as long as you're here with me
Id just as soon stay homeOn this side of the moon
Things are going my way
Your love keeps shining through
Even when it rainsTheres nowhere else Id rather be
Im happy standing in these shoes
With you here in my life, the world is looking bright
On this side of the moonWell, sometimes on a clear night
We'd pull up a chair out in the yard
And Im always amazed that the good Lord
Can make so many starsBut I know Id feel out of place
Roaming through the Milky Way
All due respect to astronauts

I think Id rather stayOn this side of the moon
Things are going my way
Your love keeps shining through
Even when it rainsTheres nowhere else Id rather be
Im happy standing in these shoes
With you here in my life, the world keeps looking bright
On this side of the moonWith you here in my life, the world keeps looking bright
On this side of the moon

Alabama is a country music band from Fort Payne, Alabama that was started in 1969 but did not get a recording contract until 1977. Alabama began by singing for tips around Myrtle Beach before going on to sell millions of records. They were among the first successful country groups since the mid-1970s, thanks to their blend of contemporary and traditional country and southern rock. On July 4-93 they opened a $7-million, 2,200-seat theater, located in Barefoot Landing-Myrtle Beach South Carolina.

The members of Alabama are:

- Randy Owen (vocals and rhythm guitar)
- Teddy Gentry, (vocals and bass guitar)
- Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, fiddle, banjo, and mandolin)
- Mark Herndon (drums and percussion)

Along with the Oak Ridge Boys and the Statler Brothers, Alabama is recognized as having paved the way for today's top country groups, including Diamond Rio, Lonestar and Rascal Flatts.
