On the Way Lyrics

Driftin' along with the wind
Telling yourself you can't win
It's over and now we begin
Oh yeah, we are on the wayLight shining down from the east
Bringing a love that won't cease
Yeah, now we are finally released
Oh yeah, we're on the wayI used to think that I was doin' all right
But now I know that I was just hanging on
I used to wake up in the dead of night
And see the road that I was traveling onOnly one woman, one man
Just doing the best that we can
There's so much we don't understand
Oh yeah, but we're on the wayYeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeahI used to think that I was doin' all right
But now I know that I was just hanging on
I used to wake up in the dead of night
And see the road that I was traveling onOnly one woman, one man
Just doing the best that we can

There's so much we don't understand
Oh yeah, but we're on the wayLight shining down from the east
Bringing a love that won't cease
Yeah, now we are finally released
Oh yeah, we're on the wayYeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Gerald Rafferty (born April 16, 1947, in Paisley, UK and died 4 January 2011) was a Scottish singer and songwriter. In his early years, Gerry Rafferty earned money by the formerly illegal practice of busking on the London Underground. Poetically, his biggest hit "Baker Street" was about busking at a tube station. After working with Billy Connolly (now better known as a comedian) in a band known as The Humblebums, he recorded a first solo album, Can I Have My Money Back.
