Once Upon a Lifetime Lyrics

Once upon a lifetime, I looked in someone's eyes
And felt the fire burning in my heart for the very first time
She was scared and young and had never tasted love
So I took her by the hand and a boy became a man
Once upon a lifetimeAnd once upon a lifetime you hold the queen of hearts
But if you gamble on a diamond win the dealin' starts
You stand to lose it all as the cards begin to fall
And the lesson learned is hard you're only dealt the queen of hearts
Once upon a lifetimeSo if you're taking chances, know the chance you take
A broken heart's a high price to pay
Foolish ways will make fools of the wise
And the best things seldom come along twiceOnce upon a lifetime you know that you've been blessed
When you hold your first born tenderly against your chest
And through the innocence you see the value of a family
And you feel a special bond that only comes along
Once upon a lifetimeSo if you're taking chances, know the chance you take
A broken heart's a high price to pay
Foolish ways will make fools of the wise

And the best things seldom come along twiceAnd people only find love like yours and mine
Once upon a lifetime

Alabama is a country music band from Fort Payne, Alabama that was started in 1969 but did not get a recording contract until 1977. Alabama began by singing for tips around Myrtle Beach before going on to sell millions of records. They were among the first successful country groups since the mid-1970s, thanks to their blend of contemporary and traditional country and southern rock. On July 4-93 they opened a $7-million, 2,200-seat theater, located in Barefoot Landing-Myrtle Beach South Carolina.

The members of Alabama are:

- Randy Owen (vocals and rhythm guitar)
- Teddy Gentry, (vocals and bass guitar)
- Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, fiddle, banjo, and mandolin)
- Mark Herndon (drums and percussion)

Along with the Oak Ridge Boys and the Statler Brothers, Alabama is recognized as having paved the way for today's top country groups, including Diamond Rio, Lonestar and Rascal Flatts.
