One In a Million Lyrics

Oh, she wakes up with the sun, she throws on her clothes
Hoping her car will start the second time around
The day has begun, the line’s at the door
Serving up frappes until she can’t take anymore
I see it in her broken smile, oh I
Wish I could tell her, you’re one in a million
You’re going the distance, babe
You’re gonna work it out some day
I wish I could tell her, you’re one in a million, but
You never even look my way
No, she never looks my way
She never, never, never looks my way
She ties up her hair, her make up is smeared
Wiping the tears that she wants no one to see
She screams on the pain, I hear every word
Why don’t you know how beautiful you are
Just see it in my broken smile, oh I
Wish I could tell her, you’re one in a million

You’re going the distance, babe
You’re gonna work it out some day
I wish I could tell her, you’re one in a million, but
You never even look my way
If I could be the light to guide you through the darkness, baby
If I could be the one to change the ending to your story
I’d be one in a million, yeah, I’d be one in a million
Someday I will tell her
You’re gonna work it out some day
You’re one in a million
You’re going the distance, babe
You’re gonna work it out some day
Oh, wish I could tell her
You’re one in a million, but
You never even look my way
You’re going the distance, babe
You’re gonna work it out some day
I wish I could tell her
You’re one in a million, but
You never even look my way

Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth is a rap group from the 1990s. Hailing from "Money Earnin'" Mount Vernon, New York, this DJ-MC duo first made noise in the rap world on the 1991 EP, All Souled Out. It sold moderately well enough to justify Elektra Records clearing the way for 1992's Mecca & The Soul Brother LP. As a producer, DJ Pete Rock (Peter Phillips) tended to prefer obscure soul and jazz sides for sample sources, frequently making use of horn-driven hooks. Lead vocalist C.L. Smooth (Corey Penn) tended to be philosophical in his raps, and he mostly avoided profanity.
