Our Night To Shine Lyrics

Every heartland, farmtown, fencepost son
Every west coast big break queen
All you high rise, skyline, concrete kids
Every zip code in between
Grab your first time front porch beating heart
And gas up your Chevrolet
Cause the sun's half gone and it won't be long
Til' we make our getawayThis is our time
Our night to shine
Oh take my hand, hold on tight
Don't look back to the morning light
Let the world go, play spin slow
Tell tomorrow not to hurry, we're just fine
This is our night to shine
Pin a flower on that Sport Coat
Lace up your new church shoes
Grab your favorite pair of denim
Patched up knees and faded blue

Fold two twenty's in your pocket
Kiss your mama at the door
Take a picture perfect postcard
And send it all across the worldThis is our time
Our night to shine
Oh, take my hand, hold on tight
Don't look back to the morning light
Let the world go, play spin slow
Tell tomorrow not to hurry, we're just fine
This is our night
Rock back on your heels
Lean into the crowd
Take hold of this chance
There's no backing downThis is our night
Our night to shine
Oh take my hand, hold on tight
Don't look back til' the morning light
Let the world go
Let it spin slow
Tell tomorrow not to hurry
We're just fine
This is our nightThis is our night (this is our night)
This is our night to shine (this is our night)

History: Rascal Flatts were founded near Columbus, Ohio. Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus were second cousins from a musical family. DeMarcus's brother-in-law, James Otto, is also a country music artist. DeMarcus moved to Nashville in 1992, earning his first record deal as part of a Christian group called East to West. In 1997, he finally convinced LeVox to leave behind his job with the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and follow his musical dreams as well.

DeMarcus soon joined Chely Wright's band, and there he met Joe Don Rooney. DeMarcus and LeVox were working in a Printer's Alley nightclub, and when their part-time guitarist could not make it one night, DeMarcus invited Rooney to sit in. Eventually, they took the name Rascal Flatts and began performing together, getting signed to Lyric Street Records in late 1999.

The band was recently announced that they have celebrated 10 years of being one of the hottest country bands of the decade.
