Over and Over Lyrics

Over and over you held me in your arms over and over you told me of my charms
Over and over I thought heaven's gift was mine
You swore that you would never leave me but too late I find
That you have lied again and it's goodbye again
Tears fill my eyes again and our love dies again
Over and over you have left me blue
But still I can't get over just bein' in love with you
[ guitar ]
Over and over you vowed you were mine alone over and over you said our love lives on
Over and over you pledged your heart to me
You gave me life you gave me hope but now too late I see
That you have lied again...

Jean Shepard (born November 21, 1933 in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma as Ollie Imogene Shepard)was one of the first female vocalists in the country music field to become a major star in the early 1950's. Shepard's family moved west to Visalia, California in hopes of a better life. In high school, Shepard formed the Melody Ranch Girls, which became locally famous. One night, Country star Hank Thompson saw Shepard performing at a show and liked what he heard. With Thompson's help, Shepard was able to get a recording contract with Capitol Records in 1952.
