Overnight Lyrics

Overnight, overnight, overnight, overnight, overnight
I met you on the Sunday night by that Monday morning
Overnight, although I wondered
Overnight, what's wrong with me
Overnight, love walked right in and shook me like a tree
Oh, I sat down when I got home and gave my heart a warnin'
Overnight, I dreamed about you
Overnight, while count the sheep
Overnight, I felt for you so hard I couldn't sleep
All night long I wished you were my own
And when I came to I was huggin' you like a hound dog hugs a bone
All night long my heart was standing still
And when I got up I pitched myself to see if this was real
Then you came by and told me dear the same sweet Monday morning
Overnight, you dreamed about me
Overnight, you loved me too
Overnight, we found the dream that really did come true
All night long I wished you were my own

When I came to I was huggin' you like a hound dog hugs a bone
All night long my heart was standing still
And when I got up I pitched myself to see if this was real
Then you came by and told me dear the same sweet Monday morning
Overnight, you dreamed about me
Overnight, you loved me too
Overnight, we found the dream that really did come true
Really did come true, that really did come true
Overnight, overnight, overnight, overnight, overnight

Jim Reeves (1923 - 1964), known affectionately as 'Gentleman Jim', was a country singer known for his velvety voice. Through his unique style, which fused the laidback style of crooners such as Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby with country material, he brought country music to a whole new audience. He was also one of the first to bring country music to places outside of America, gaining widespread popularity in Britain, Europe, South Africa and India.

His prolific career was cut tragically short in 1964 by a plane crash. However, even after his death, his popularity did not wane and he continued to have hits some years after his death, with previously unreleased songs and remastered earlier material.

Added 01: One interesting fact was that he recorded an album in Afrikaans for Afrikaners in South Africa. How do I know? I bought the LP many years ago.
