Pacific Coast Highway Lyrics

Rollin' along Pacific Coast Highway
Bummin' along to my radio
Saw a blond hitchin' my way
Rolled up and said, "How far do you wanna go?"She been hummin', thumbin'
Hitchin' and wishin'
For a good day
On Pacific Coast HighwayLooked in at me and when I could see her
She seemed to be somebody I ought to know
Opened the door, sat down beside me
Then with a roar we started to rollShe been hummin', thumbin'
Hitchin' and wishin'
For a good day
On Pacific Coast HighwayLooked like a swan
But brown as Chuck Berry
A summer's dawn
Yeah, light as a fairyWe got to town
She said her name was Mary
She been hit, she been whipped

She been hummin', she been bummin'
All her lifeOn the highway, on and on
On the highway, on and on
On the highway, on and on
On the highway, on and on

The Mamas & the Papas (credited as The Mama's and the Papa's on the debut album cover) were a leading vocal group of the 60s from New York. The group recorded and performed from 1965 to 1968, releasing five albums and charting ten hit singles that hold up as well today as they did back in the sunshine era. While spending relatively a short time in the realm of popular music, some group members have pointed to their short time in the spotlight as a reason why they still have loyal fans today.
