Past My Shades (feat. Lupe Fiasco) Lyrics

If you asked me what's on my mind
You probably won't believe it
'Cause if life was one big pool I'd be in the deep end
So I play my role and never ever speak it, like a secret
And all the while you just tryin' to figure me outBut you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shades
And you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shadesAnd you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shades
And you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shadesWell, ask me a question, I tell you no lies
'Cause there's nothing to hide my souls in my eyes
And I'm ahead of my time but I cannot rewind
The only thing I fear is the mirror in my bathroomPeople look and try to see a disguise
But there is nothing that nobody can't see in line
If it's a song with a rhyme or a verse with a line
Then you wanna stay in my mindBut you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shades

And you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shadesAnd you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shades
And you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shadesUh, who else but [incomprehensible]
You know I got two belts, the black and the white one
I begin and I master, I see in my eye glassesBut they sayin' what I'm seeing through is false like Ross
I can hear him through the wall like walk
This way they tryin' to dissuade my thoughts
I'm a slave to myself and disobey my bossIt's all in disarray this parade I walk
They get amazed when they catch a chain I toss
Amidst disarray a different way as I talk
And it hangs from your brain if my chain you caughtLike I cough without covering my mouth
I tip the scales like the King of the south
Forgot that I was fat, I lost my way
But now I'm back looking for the shade I sawAnd not wonders, the sky summers
So don't make me take off my stunners
Bobby Ray you know you got my numbers
And them there can't see us like huntersBut you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shades
And you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shadesAnd you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shades
And you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shadesLa, la, la, la, la, la
(Oh, yeah)
La, la, la, la, la
(You can't see past my shades)
La, la, la, la, la
(You can't see past my shades)
La, la, la, la, laBut you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shades
And you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shadesAnd you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shades
And you can't see past my shades
Past my shades, past my shadesAnd you can't see past my shades
And you can't see past my shades

Bobby Ray Simmons (born November 15, 1988 in Decatur, Georgia), better known by his stage name B.o.B, is a Grammy Award-nominated American rapper, singer and producer signed to T.I.'s Grand Hustle Label and Atlantic Records. In 2007 he released his debut EP Eastside, and has since released another EP, 12th Dimension, and five mixtapes. His debut album, B.o.B Presents The Adventures of Bobby Ray, was released in April 2010 and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. The first single from the album, Nothin' on You featuring Bruno Mars, peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album spawned two further hit singles including international smash Airplanes and Billboard hit Magic. The album has since been certified Gold by the RIAA for shipments of over 500,000 copies in the US.

The first single from B.o.B's second album is Strange Clouds. It features Lil Wayne and according to the Strange Clouds Songfacts, it "is 3 minutes 47 seconds of bass heavy bragging.". The song was released on October 3, 2011.

B.o.B has a unique talent in that he produces, writes, raps, arranges, and mixes his own music. He is a one stop music creation shop from top to bottom. This allows B.o.B the rare opportunity of recording with reckless abandon. It is a freedom that he willingly accepts. “I am constantly coming up with songs and concepts because I want to sound different. Nobody made it by sounding like everyone else.” This unique sound caught the attention of two industry heavyweights, Jim Jonsin and TJ Chapman, who are poised to make the rest of the world believers.
