Pay No Rent Lyrics

I here the clickin' of the dominoes
You're shaking up a game
And if we lose a hand, I bet I know just who's to blame
But if we hit 21, if we make that call
I better sit here in my chair just feeling 10 feet tallAnd we are caught up in the riff raff
Circling around the sun
It takes a whole lotta blood and tears to really love someone
But when it comes back around, That's heaven on earth
You never know til the end my friend what your love is really worthAre you cracking jokes with the common folks
Are you serving to the will to do
I've traveled around and I ain't found nobody quite like you
And is all this living meant to be we are happy as the ?
Well in my heart you pay no rent
Well in my heart you pay no rentI hear the cracklin' of a campfire
You're hollin at the moon
We all know that you gotta go but does it have to be so soon
Bet somebody's yelling last call, hope you get some rest
Hope you found everything that you wanted in the place that you love the bestAre you cracking jokes with the common folks

Are you serving to the will to do
I've traveled around and I ain't found nobody quite like you
And is all this living meant to be we are happy as the ?Well in my heart you pay no rent
Well in my heart you pay no rentNow we are shaking up the dominoes
Beneath the neon light
Knowing anybody else out there couldn't put up a better fight
But the fighting time's over and it's all gone
We pick up the pieces and we try to carry on
Are you cracking jokes with the common folks
Are you serving to the will to do
Well I've traveled around and I ain't found nobody quite like you
And is all this living meant to be we are happy as the ?Well in my heart you pay no rent
Don't cost you nothing, not a single cent
Time together was time well spentIn my heart you pay no rent
In my heart you pay no rent

The Turnpike Troubadours, whose name is derived from the bumpy Oklahoma toll-roads and their hard lived folk singing heroes, are proof that isolation can be the mother of originality. Cutting their teeth in roadside dance halls and honky-tonks has made a serious impact on the band’s musical style, which walks the line between Woody Guthrie and Waylon Jennings. “Bossier City,” the band’s debut album, is testament to the small towns in which they were raised. It combines Folk, Country, Cajun, and Bluegrass with stories of longing, humor, tragedy, and general life in rural America.
