Peacock Lady Lyrics

KooperShe is like the trees and with the ease of summer's breeze
She is leaving
Gone & left me lone she's headin' home to walls of stone
For no good reason
And not a word to anyone
She's like the bird with tail of setting sunPeacock lady-roll me over
Hold me softly, be my loverHeard her on the air and I did care to pay the fare
To hear her sweet song
Held her by the wing, I heard her sing, she made it ring
But that was all wrong
A little girl is somewhere playing
So she must fly-she can't be staying
Peacock lady-you're all around me
Let me inside - soft surround me
Peacock lady

Al Kooper (born Alan Peter Kuperschmidt February 5, 1944, Brooklyn, New York) is an American songwriter, producer and musician, probably best known for organizing the group Blood, Sweat & Tears, though he didn't stay with the group long enough to share its popularity. His first musical success was as a 14-year-old guitarist in the Royal Teens, best known for their novelty blues riff, "Short Shorts". In 1960, he joined the song-writing team of Bob Brass and Irwin Levine, who wrote the hit, "This Diamond Ring", for Gary Lewis And The Playboys. When he was 21, he moved to Greenwich Village.
